Jim Henson actually passed away on May 16, 1990…only a few short weeks after TMNT 1 released on March 30th. The sequel would be developed and released a little less than a year later on March 22nd 1991. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop would also return for the sequel…but without the involvement of Jim Henson’s son Brian Henson…who served as Second Unit Director and Chief Puppeteer on TMNT 1. Brain Henson wasn't all that interested in doing another Turtles movie at the time…especially since his homie Steve Barron wasn’t going to return to direct the sequel.
