I have always loved freight trains, and the Modern Marvels program. About 25 years ago I wrote a letter to Modern Marvels suggesting that they do a show about freight trains. I included 12 bullet points that they could cover. A few years later, I was thrilled to see this show. It has always been my favorite. It is very well done.

Anyone else remember when The History Channel had good, valuable, educational programming like this? Those were the days.
I drove those babies 41 yrs. When I began operating Locomotives they were some of the first diesel still operating but about to be moth balled. It was a fun ride over the years and now I am retired and living the Dream a Full Time RV'er. Life is good.

Please Bring Back This Program, Its Better Then Going To SCHOOL.
My dad used to work at the Bailey Yard in the 90s, i got to take my kids to an observation station and watch the trains being assembled.
100 cars long? thats almost a local train now
The railroad was so important to a town's survival that when the line came through and missed the town, a town in Central Iowa literally moved the town about 10 miles north to be along the railroad. The only building they left standing at the original site was the one room schoolhouse. Every other building was disassembled and then reassembled at the new location.
