Pictures and videos don't do it justice. The Sierra Nevadas and Yosemite are something you must experience in person! Absolutely breath taking!
In 1977 I was in a group of guys that I worked with. They said that they were going to hike 50 miles up the back side of Yosemite. They invited me to tag along. It's pretty much hard to explain to others of the beauty of this, our National Park. Breathtakingly beauty with each blink of your eye. I lost my job over it but I was young and careless sometimes. I found another job right away 👍🏽
All the researchers deserve credit for giving the history and make up of this place.
The best time to ever visit Yosemite is spring time. If California has a wet winter, then spring will be beautiful. I've hiked half dome 4x. 8.2 miles. If you can do the hike. You'll never forget it.
I spent 25 plus years living in Northern California including 15 years in the Tahoe Basin. Yosemite is one of the crown jewels of the world and i can say that after living in Alaska for a dozen years which has several crown jewels. Im very, very lucky, i got to experience Yosemite back in the 1970's and early 80's many times and not just the valley, I've backpacked to the rim multiple times both from the north and the south. Unfortunately...mass tourism has changed the park...and the experience. But its still worth the effort to go and well worrhy of appreciation for the spendor. This is coming from someone thats been to dozens of natural wonders across not just the North American Continent but the world.
Love the park ranger at the start of the video who poses the question "how did this happen?" He's so engaging & knowledgeable he should really be leading the National Park Service!
Why a great narrative about our beautiful Yosemite! Thank you. On a side note talking about “250 millions years ago” takes just seconds to say yet we can hardly comprehend the time!
Just came back from a trip first time to Yosemite! It is truly something else! My pictures don’t do it justice! Please go go go ❤
I love listening to people who have dedicated their lives to research and understanding talk about the subjects they know so well. Learning the truth, supported by experiment and study, is so invigorating to the mind.
Thank you for such a great documentary! As someone living in bay area and loving to backpack into Yosemite and sierra wilderness tons of times, this lets me realize how shallow I have been on understanding this magic place. As a scientist, the debate between John Muir and prof. Whitney is so inspiring. A scientific conclusion is often not as simple as one model over another, and often involves many complex factors fueling a simple model. However often the hinder towards the truth is the mind set of human that could be easily biased by “natural” thoughts. I enjoy watching all sorts of documentaries, but rarely get so many educational inspirations from one video like this.
