Young Mom Strangled to Death After New Roommate Moves In

Twenty-year-old Kayla Hamilton was found murdered in her Aberdeen, Maryland home on July 27, 2022, strangled with a phone charging cord by her 16-year-old roommate Walter Martinez. Martinez, an undocumented MS-13 gang member from El Salvador, sexually assaulted and killed Kayla while her boyfriend Enrique was at work. DNA evidence later tied Martinez to the crime, and he confessed to four murders in a jailhouse letter. He was sentenced to 70 years in prison for first-degree murder.
