I tried watching a Stephen Bartlett podcast some time ago and found the whole experience profoundly depressing. It ruined my life energy for 3 days. Luckily I had some red wine on hand.
The older I get, the more I understand people who choose to live as hermits.
The stress of health maxing will kill them before natural causes can🤣
All this "maxxing" culture is turning people into self obsessed lunatics
I keep myself healthy but its not to live as long as possible. Just dont want to spend my 60s and 70s in hospitals barely able to move and in pain and discomfort. I want to remain physically capable for as long as possible to not be too much of a burden and to be able to play with my grandchildren.
"like a scrawney gay vampier.." I spit my beer all over my laptop you jerk! LMFAO!!!!
I generally don't take Woody Allen as an authority, but he said one thing that has always resonated: "You can live to be 100, if you give up everything that makes you want to live to be 100."
I had a football coach back in high school. His family had a history of heart failure. He worked out to exhaustion, ate well, and got his heart checked constantly. He died at 55 from a massive heart attack while running on a treadmill. The gym didn’t even close down after. They just covered his body with towels until the coroner showed up.
As a professional statistician, and one who used to be on a school board, I appreciate your point about the lack of education on Statistics because you are absolutely right. Statistics are everywhere and few know how to read them. I tried to establish a Statistics class in the school system but was met with high resistance from the math teachers that thought the little they taught was enough.
Matt is right that obsessing about one's own health is actually unhealthy. Our society needs less longevity and more vitality.
