The Justice System Is Deeply Flawed And Politically Biased | Proof For Your Liberal Friend
Analyzing Language Manipulation in Criminal Justice and Deterrence Theory
Understand how rebranding criminals as "justice impacted individuals" masks failures in punishment, and learn the flawed academic theory driving the soft-on-crime movement across America.
Short Summary
- Illinois passed legislation to replace "offender" with "justice impacted individual" for specific inmates, ignoring violent recidivism demonstrated by cases like Crocetti Brand.
- This linguistic shift removes agency from criminals, implying justice (not their actions) caused their status, making them victims of the system.
- The policy foundation rests on academic claims, particularly DOJ guidance arguing harsh punishment does not deter crime, citing research suggesting certainty of capture is paramount.
- Media outlets exhibit a double standard, using euphemisms for certain demographics while explicitly marking white suspects by race in reporting crime.
- The analysis concludes that abandoning deterrence logic necessitates early release policies, leading to increased danger for the public.
This document analyzes political language used to soften concepts of criminality, exemplified by an Illinois bill following a fatal repeat offense. It traces the underlying reasoning back to specific academic research utilized by the US Department of Justice to discredit the deterrent effect of imprisonment.

Victims are injustice impacted individuals.
And you were wondering how someone like Jasmine Crockett gets elected. And then you see a story like this. And are reminded you live in a clown world.

The word games are the way that they insult us for wanting this insanity to end.
Wouldn't the mother be the Justice Impactacted Individual since the justice sytem failed her and her child? That's the real impact.
The Chauvin trial and the fact that the Rittenhouse trial even happened taught me it's all messed up
*That implies that THEY'RE the victim, NOT the people whose lives THEY destroyed. SMH. Unbelievable.*
Lets start putting these law makers in jail with the criminals they love so much
Every time I see some story about a young woman killed, assaulted, etc., it is done by some repeat offender that was let out by our "justice system." We need to hold the people that let this happen personally responsible for these crimes.
I was a mental health counselor for 10 years. Aside from trying to make trans people normal, my bosses insisted I referred to "justice involved people" to refer to inmates when I counseled at the local jail. I continued to put "inmate" in my reports.
