Abraham Lincoln: “to test a man’s character, give him power” Time will tell.
As a TLM Catholic, I’m very optimistic. He had a very reverent mass in Latin, wearing traditional garb, beautiful homily. I’m hopeful.
As a gen-x Catholic, I don't want my Pope to use social media more than I do.
The right/left, conservative/liberal paradigm does not apply to the Catholic Church and the Catholic Faith. A Catholic is either orthodox or heterodox. A Catholic either believes EVERYTHING the Church teaches about faith and morals, or, one is not a Catholic. The Catholic Church is not a political organization.
Pray for Pope Leo XIV. I love what I'm seeing so far. Yes, he is pro migration, but that is majorly in the case of refugees, and in sermons, he spoke against mass migration. He's no fan of Trump or Vance, but he is much more Conservative than Trump, who supports gay "marriage" we don't want a MAGA Pope, we want a GOOD Pope. His Latin is beautiful, and his vestments are more traditional, so let's pray for long, Holy and fruitful Papacy.
You do have to remember he has been a bishop in Peru for years. So his view on immigration in America is coming from his view as a bishop in Peru where poverty and violence is normal. His sympathy is probably with the people who are trying to get away from the poverty there.
I don’t understand why we as Catholic judging him after few hours he become a Pope, We prayed before and during conclave and keep praying for him in future for our Church. Trust in Jesus.
1:35 That’s not how we used to see it. But the political pope we had for the last 12 years has made us wary and mistrustful that a new pope won’t be just as politically minded as the last one.
Give Leo a month or two and we will know more. The upside of him being American is communication will be clear as a bell.
I went to the Vatican in 1991 when my friend’s uncle became a cardinal and my wife and I were the privileged guest for a week of incredible ceremonies. It was beyond anything I could have ever imagined.
