Thank you so much Mel for the opportunity to join you on the pod and share my work and research! Absolutely loved being there and diving into Big Trust. If you're watching right now, I hope you find so much value in this!
This is one of the best podcasts in the world, and you choose your topics carefully. We are all with you and we are all proud of you.
Wow! I'll have this on REPEAT. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. As a serial overthinker and recovering people pleaser, this is INVALUABLE.
Her tamber her voice and the way language lays- is captivating!
Such a great guest! She’s so articulate in explaining the research and providing actionable steps.
The strongest people still hear self-doubt, they just don’t hand it the steering wheel.
NO WAIT. JUST SHOW UP. ❤❤❤❤. Your that person. Be proud of yourself.
The single biggest paradigm shift from this episode: Self-doubt isn’t a reflection of our actual capability; it’s just a deeply ingrained habit of protection. When Dr. Shadé Zahrai broke down how procrastination is actually a sneaky byproduct of self-doubt, it clicked. We aren't lazy; we are just trying to avoid the discomfort of falling short. My favorite takeaways that I’m writing down to remind myself daily: • Imposter syndrome is a good sign: It means you care and you are actively growing outside your comfort zone. • Action precedes confidence: You don't wait until you feel confident to press record or launch the project. You take the action first, and the confidence follows as a reward. If you’re reading this and overthinking your next move today, consider this your sign to just take the first imperfect step anyway. The world needs what you have to say. Thank you Mel and Dr. Shadé for this masterclass!
Get a hobby. It really helps. I’ve been struggling with self-development and losing my sense of direction in life. But when my friend invited me to start going to the gym with him, I began to feel more confident. Somehow, it also taught me how to discipline myself and appreciate my own worth.
I’ve been on a healing journey with Crohn’s disease and spondylolisthesis for a very long time, and even after more than 8 years as a health coach, I still sometimes wrestle with feeling like an imposter because my health is not “perfect.” This conversation really reminded me that healing is not a straight line, and that having knowledge, compassion, and lived experience still has incredible value even on the hard days. Some of the people who understand suffering, nervous system overwhelm, and resilience the deepest are the ones still walking through it themselves. I’m learning that my worth was never supposed to be measured by symptom-free perfection, but by the way I continue showing up with honesty, empathy, and hope anyway. My favorite quote from your conversation is, “You don’t have to eliminate the doubt. You just have to strengthen parts of yourself that allow you to move through it.”
