As a Bible teacher, lifelong Superman fan, and someone who’s very cautious about actual woke agendas in media… I genuinely don’t see how this movie qualifies. This version of Superman is compassionate, morally upright, humble, and heroic. He protects the weak, honors his earthly parents, sacrifices for others, and speaks the truth—often at cost to himself. If anything, this Superman is more biblically grounded in virtue than most modern depictions we’ve seen. There's no agenda here—just sincerity, restraint, and hope. It’s not woke. It’s wholesome. And honestly, calling it woke might just push studios to double down on actual ideology or scrap something beautiful. I’d hate to see that happen. This movie deserves a sequel—not cancellation or cynicism. I say that as someone who takes worldview seriously and wants media to reflect truth. And this Superman? He does.
I hate that Gunn went with the Viltrimite angle with Jor-El and Lara. They sent him to Earth to conquer and spread his seed......I don't remember that ever being a Superman thing. That means Jor-El and Lara basically agreed with Zod in this movie. That's just not the way its supposed to be with Superman's Kryptonian parents.
I saw the movie, and the reason why Superman is arrested is not because he is an alien, but because there was evidence that he was sent here to conquer us...
9:48 - You left out part of that line. And it wasn’t liberal at all. He essentially tells Clark, ‘You decide who you are.’ Parents just give you the tools to start down the path—and grace when you mess up.
The main point of Superman is that his adoptive parents are almost the best of humanity, and told Superman he has to make a decision of what he will be for the rest of humanity, but it was never a comment of on be your true self, it was that he is so strong that he can do whatever he wants, but the harder choice is showing restraint and being the shining light to give humans hope.
You’re reading into that “I’m human” line too much. What makes Superman Superman is how the Kent’s raises him.
I think Superman is not a human but is more of a human being than anyone else. That is the whole point of the character, that the person with unbelievable power is somehow incorruptible
I love how Superman's greatest weakness is his greatest strength in this movie. He even saves a squirrel for F-ing sake!
Also Michael, Pa Kent didn't say parent's don't tell their children who they are. He said parents give their children the tools to make fools of themselves on their own. It makes sense because we do make fools of ourselves on our own through our own choices. It just makes sense :). Especially if you don't try to make everything woke. Superman said I'm as human as anyone. Of course he's not speaking literally Michael. He means to say he fears, he loves, he mourns, etc. There's no way you don't understand what he meant. That's what that shof of Lois in his room was for. To show that he grew up like us and had the same feelings that a young Human boy would feel growing up on Earth. It makes more sense to relate it to Christ. As much as Christ as God, he was also human, and he feared, he loved, and mourned like all of us do. Life is so much less frustrating when you stop trying to make things woke that don't have to be. Love you bro!!!
As a Zach Snyder fan and everything he did I watched the new Superman movie it was very good a lot better than what I thought it was going to be.
