Thank you for not editing the numbers portions out. That was awesome and really helpful for getting a better grasp of what it actually takes for content creators to do this full-time and build a sustainable life around it. Owning and running a small business myself, I very much relate to how a topline number can sound like a lot, while the reality underneath it is much more complicated. There are so many recurring expenses, annual expenses, equipment purchases, one-off costs that constantly come up, contractor costs, and then, of course, taxes. So in the end, running a business can absolutely provide a more comfortable lifestyle than working for someone else, but there is also the always-on nature of it that you can never fully get away from. There is always something vying for your attention and keeping you from being fully present even when you are technically “off.” And then there’s how difficult it can be to take a real break, even just to travel with the family for a couple of weeks. The cost of lost momentum can end up being significantly higher than the cost of the trip itself. So, just like everybody else, you can still end up restrained by a different version of golden handcuffs.

One thing I really appreciate about Matt is his loyalty and transparency regarding what he does and how he does it. I’ve noticed that some other popular creators hesitate to share deep, helpful details, but Matt shares everything related to the topic. That is why he and his newsletter are my primary sources of information.
