Spaniard here working as a manager for international and Spanish big companies for more than 36 years. If you come to Spain you have to bring realistic expectations. Job market is horrible and salaries very low, taxes are overwhelming, public services and politics are forgettable and housing in big cities very expensive. On the other hand, people are friendly, weather is fantastic, the food incredibly tasty and good quality, groceries are cheap and the cultural heritage huge and attractive. Value pros and cons and make a decision based on facts. Do not value the opinion of people that come to this country with a privileged economic situation or tourists or expats with 200.000€ per year wages.
Thank you for inviting me, Andrew. I enjoyed our conversation! 🙏🏻

Went to Europe this summer with our children. Finishing our trip in Spain. I have to say I really enjoyed Spain and the people. Great food, nice music, amazing architecture. Just a magical place. Thank you, Spain would love to come back some day.
oh my God, I never anticipated this collaboration. Excellent stuff. 🎉

Great topics covered! While vacationing in Lisbon I noticed numerous protests concerning the cost of renting has greatly increased due to tourism. There is a cost, two parties oppositely affected interesting for sure.
When I was young in Spain many of the best writers would write articles in 'El Pais' on a variety of subjects but often centred on 'how to live well'. I still remember one by Munoz Molina about how he would walk his dog on a Sunday night and listen to Opera. He talked about the pleasure of the weather in the different seasons and the different works he would listen to. I thought that one page article was a sort of masterclass on how to live and enjoy life. And this is what Spain continues to represent for me. Towards the end of our holiday last year we were outside a bar in Santander having a glass of wine at about 10pm on a Tuesday night, surrounded by families and groups of friends doing the same. Everybody was drinking but nobody was drunk, the food on offer was of the highest possible calibre for which you would pay a fortune in Sydney, Beijing or London, if you can even get it. How do you put a price on all of this? Don't think you can.
