I'm a sociology teacher and have been for about six years. At the beginning of my career, when I used to ask my students about examples of rich people getting away with crime, it would take the class a couple minutes to give an answer. These past couple months, I ask the same question and within a second they all burst out with far too many examples to write down on the smartboard. This age of corruption is blatant and terrifying.

I think we can all agree the reason the Epstien client list hasn't been released is because the people on it do not want it to be released and have the power to keep it that way.

How can Ghislaine Maxwell be found guilty of trafficking but not one person has been charged with being a recipient of said trafficking ?????

I can say that the system in place for involuntary mental health commitment is absolutely awful. 2 years ago I called the suicide hotline in one of the lowest moments of my life. The worker on the hotline was working to get me a therapist to come to my location and speak to me. Another person within the hotline called local police and sent cops who then took my phone , told the person I was being helped by ‘we will handle it from here’ , handcuffed me , put me in the back of their police car and drove me to the hospital where I was held. Those doctors took no intake info from the cops , had no information as to why I was there . For that 24 hour stay which had a combined time of 10 minutes where I spoke to their psychiatrist I was charged over $16,000 for that one hospital line item alone. Total was about $17,000 or so. I can say with 1000% certainty that if for some reason I ever hit that low ever again I will not reach out, I will not ask for help. The financial burden alone on top of the social and familial fallout from that night has made me lose faith in that system and what it’s supposed to do. It’s predatory and disgusting. Shoutout to Escondido California PD and Palomar Medical Center🖕
