Man, this film hits harder now given the shitshow that happened with CBS.

When Christopher Plummer is allowed to act, he ACTS 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

The best movie most people have never watched. I know Michael Mann is best known for Heat, but this is my favorite. He took a story about corporate lawsuits and tv journalism and turned it into a thriller.

Close your eyes and you would swear Christopher Plummer is Mike Wallace. He nailed this performance, as did Crowe and Pacino.

1999. Opening night. I was there. That final shot, when the camera speed ramps into slow-mo as Pacino walks out the door into the cold air while Mann drops “Safe From Harm” by Massive Attack into the soundtrack, I wanted to stand up and applaud. 1999 was a hell of a year for American cinema (some have argued that it still has yet to be surpassed since) and I’m of the opinion that this film belongs near the top of the best films of that year. If you were an avid movie-goer during that time, between both domestic and foreign theatrical releases, it seemed like there was a new, great film being released theatrically almost every week. The cinema gods spoiled us that year. Another great reaction, PiB! And congrats on the wonderful news, Carly.

Fun fact... the deposition scene was filmed in the exact same courtroom that that actual deposition took place. Several of the people in courtroom were in the courtroom the day of actual deposition including one of the lawyers.

This movie is heartbreaking and makes me hate the tobacco industry even more than I already did.

Hilarious watching poor Carly talk movies with Cassie now. Her sister has turned into a movie monster, rattling off actors, directors, filmographies and plot lines without skipping a beat!

“The Insider” is a perfect film. Not only is it brilliantly made, but it is impeccably effective in conveying an important and compelling narrative.
