The great actress Lauren Bacall said that one of her favorite things in life was watching Audrey Hepburn walk into a room, and every famous, rich, and powerful man in the room would turn into high schooler trying to get AH's attention.

About the ending...My Fair Lady is based on a 1913 play by George Bernard Shaw titled "Pygmalion" (In Greek mythology, 'Pygmalion' was a sculptor who fell in love with one of his own statues). In the ending of the original play, Eliza and Professor Higgins do NOT reconcile and it is assumed that Eliza goes on to marry Freddy. Even way back then, popular audiences were critical of the ending and wanted a so-called "happy ending" instead. Author Shaw insisted that it made no sense for Eliza to return to Higgins and even wrote an essay published in subsequent editions of the play explaining why it was impossible to end with Higgins and Eliza reunited. But later versions of the story - like a 1938 film version and, of course, 1964's 'My Fair Lady' - ended with Eliza returning to Higgins.

Audrey was dubbed for this role by Marnie Nixon (who also dubbed Natalie Wood in West Side Story and Deborah Kerr in The King and I, among others). In fact, the one who played Eliza on Broadway was Julie Andrews. They wouldn't cast her in the movie because they wanted a famous actress. That very same year Julie landed the role of Mary Poppins and won the Oscar for Best Actress, while Audrey wasn't even nominated.

The whole concept is proven by the Ascot Crowd. They're the same performers as the 'Getting Married In The Morning' sequence, just dressed differently.

It is hard to believe that "Freddy" later became "Sherlock Holmes". Met him once, really nice man.

For me, the point of the movie is we love people for who they are, not for what we want them to be.

When Rex Harrison accepted his Academy Award for this movie, he dedicated it to his "two fair ladies," Audrey Hepburn and Julie Andrews, both of whom had played Eliza Doolittle with him. FYI Rex acted with Audrey on film and with Julie on stage play.
