Clancy Brown did a phenomenal job as The Kurgan.
Highlander: "There can be only one!" Highlander II: "There should have been only one!"
Who wants to live forever. . . one of the best songs from a movie in context with the content.
A Frenchman playing a Scotsman A Scotsman playing an Egyptian An American playing a Kurgan Music by a great English band Directed by an Australian Watched by a Canadian A perfect synthesis for a 1980s movie. And to answer your question from the beginning it is 'runners up'.
You get a bit more respect for Christopher Lambertโs acting when you realize that when he signed to do this movie, he didnโt speak English at all, even though he was born in New York. He is the son of a French diplomat who was serving at UN when Chris was born, but he grew up in France and attended a boarding school in Geneva, Switzerland. For this movie, he worked with a dialogue coach so that he could speak English with a โnon-specific foreign accentโ to account for the fact that Connor had traveled all over the world in his 450-year life. Hence his answer when asked where he was from โ โLots of places.โ
The actor playing Connor is Christopher Lambert, a Frenchman playing a Scotsman. Then you have Sean Connery, a Scotsman playing an Egyptian, masquerading as a Spaniard.
Clancy Brown absoltly killed it in this movie - hes an amazing actor
When I was in boot camp (navy) we had an instructor named Petty Officer Highlander. Our first night all the recruits were in a room. He kicked in the door. He screamed โmy name is Highlander. Youโve seen the movie. There can be only one and Iโm it. Get on your feetโ.
I could tell by the way she had her arms folded all the way through it that she was having a hard time getting though it :) I also realized for the first time that Ramirez was training Connor because he knew that defeating the Kurgan was more important than securing the prize for himself
"Is that a serial killer in the Trenchcoat?" I mean.... He does have quite the headcount.
