You know, seeing all these videos and analysis made me realize this series comes much closer to being "Lovecraftian" than most works claiming as such. Because "Lovecraftian" isn't synonymous with tentacle monsters, it's about discovering something that completely changes your perception of life and makes you realize you're like a tiny little ant who thinks the colony they were born in is the entire Universe, not realizing the gigantic warzone of colossal beings threatening to wipe out the entire colony over pure indifference.
"The Church of the Children of Atom is based on the idea that each single atomic mass contains within it an entire universe!" - Confessor Cromwell
The concept of twisting physics and the very fabric of reality into a weapon is one of the most horrific sci-fi senarios I can imagine
The sheer indifference of the aliens about destroying entire solar systems was terrifying enough. And the fact that the person doing the button pressing was just a regular citizen, like an office worker, and not anyone important. Like, they couldn't even give the people they were destroying that much respect? lol
For me the most scary part was on the two ships running from Earth. When everyone starts getting depressed and if you figure out why everyone is getting depressed, you also get depressed from the cold horror of what actions are needed in a resource restricted environment to ensure the long terms survival of the realistic maximum number of people.
The scene in Death's end where it is stated there are multiple universes seemingly arranged nearby might also imply that the known universe itself is merely a small structure inside a greater one
It's honestly so trippy and terrifying to think of entire universe with intelligent life folded up into lower dimensions in every particle, and that maybe our universe is all just folded up in a single particle in a higher dimension universe. That's a crazy thought...
"The Tomb" was absolutely fascinating to me. The union of consciousnesses, of language, of understanding and the sacrifice of the fish and the aquarium. There is so much to digest and interpret in that one scene. Thank you, Quinn, for the recommendation. The Thre Body Problem series changed me. See on Danika Mystery Theater, my friend. Godspeed.

To me the dimension-collapsing weapon that destroys Earth is way, way scarier for some reason
