BATMAN & ROBIN (1997) IS HILARIOUSLY TERRIBLE!! MOVIE REACTION! Full Movie Commentary & Breakdown
Reaction to Joel Schumacher's Infamous '97 Comic Book Disaster
We revisit the camp, excess, and near-franchise-killing chaos of Batman & Robin (1997) alongside a first-time viewer's painful journey toward the end credits.
Short Summary
- Analyze Arnold Schwarzenegger’s commitment to scene-stealing puns that earned him top billing.
- Identify the film's shift from intentional 1960s camp to agonizing excess in the final acts.
- Observe how the design decisions (e.g., Bat-nipples, neon Gotham) directly led Warner Bros. to reboot the franchise later.
- Note surprising moments of directorial competence, especially in Alfred’s scenes and Poison Ivy’s framing.
This commentary details the hosts’ breakdown while watching Batman & Robin (1997), focusing on its bizarre production design, over-the-top acting, franchise legacy, and key comparison points to other Batman films. The hosts promise an experience focusing on fun rather than serious thought (0:00:33).

“Batman Forever felt like it was trying to touch me” is the best review of a film of all time🤣
Clooney was hysterically funny in this movie, sounded like he was reading his lines off of a napkin 😂
The picture of Alfred's sister Peg is actually a 1930s pic of Gloria Stuart who played Old Rose in Titanic.
The picture of Poison Ivy and Bane at the airport looks like something from "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?"
I appreciate Greg pointing out the ICONIC George Clooney head-bobbing acting. Once you see it, you cant unsee it lol 😂😂.
The last time I saw this movie, I kept pausing the beginning where the henchman are skating through the museum to notice if the wearing actual ice skates or rollerskates and they are indeed wearing rollerskates 😂
I think my biggest problem with this movie is the fact that the ice age did not, in fact, kill the dinosaurs

Arnold actually loves this movie, he pays Warner brothers to keep the Mr Freeze suit in his house
I still like this quote from Arnold’s Mr Freeze: “Allow me to break the ice. My name is Freeze. Learn it well, for it’s the chilling sound of your doom.”
