I'm glad I scrolled through the comments during the intro because I would've been horribly disappointed with their consistent misunderstanding of Schindler's character. The slow arc is so important, I'm honestly floored that they missed it when this is basically what they do on a regular basis, breaking down films. He was far from perfect but his progress is still clear.
Dang it frustrates me they aren't understanding that Schindler is having to pretend to be despicable when he speaks to other Germans because he can't show that he cares. Like when he acted upset at losing the one armed worker he had to act like it was about the loss of money/labor but it was really about the person. The whole reason he hired the one arm man was to save his life knowing he wouldn't have been spared by the others. He did get a little upset at the one armed man being hired but not because he doesn't care but because he is trying to maintain his cover and it was hard to prove a one armed man is a good worker to the others. He also purposefully wants no ammunition made in his factory to work because he is just hiring people to save their lives. That's why the gun doesn't go off in that scene because the ammunition from Schindler's factory has been made poorly on purpose.
Thank you to the comment section for not making me feel like i was the only one frustrated with this reaction. Someone else had said this, but these two got so lost in trying to come off as “correct” that the entire essence of the story went right over their heads.
You missed the ending so bad.. I was expecting an WOW reaction when the transition came
For people who make a living analyzing movies, I'm surprised they didn't understand a damn thing about Schindler's arc.
I'm still haunted by Schindler's "I could've done more" breakdown towards the end. Incredible work from Neeson.
As a Polish person, the one thing that hits home is the fact that in many scenes the Polish people are actually speaking Polish. Truly great job by Spielberg to not just hollywoodize the film.
Schindler saving 1100 people and being a hero..... Coy and Aaron 'but he was a mean businessman'
I’ve never seen reactors miss the whole point of this movie like this before 🤯
