This movie isn't about the race wars between Ford and Ferrari, it's not about cars, it's not about Ford or Ferrari. It's a movie to finally give the respect and accolades of the legendary Ken Miles, rest well and hit those apex clean and crisp up above.
Matt Damon said after he and Christian Bale were filming their “fight scene“ a young crew member randomly said out loud “So this is the fight between Batman and Jason Bourne I always dreamed of”, and everyone including Matt and Christian just died laughing. I hope someone on the crew bought that young crewmember and expensive dinner for that world class joke.
“Tell him he is not Henry Ford…He is Henry Ford II.” Gotta be one of the coldest lines in cinema 🥶
"My name is Caroll Shelby and performance is my business" Still can't believe they didn't use this quote.
The scene where Ford II was talking to everyone in the factory in the beginning, was him actually talking to the suits, not the factory workers.
"I am a mechanic. That has been the direction of my entire vocational life. Driving is a hobby, a relaxation for me, like golfing is to others. I should like to drive a Formula One machine, not for the grand prize, but just to see what it is like. I should think it would be jolly good fun!” — Ken Miles
Ken Miles was 45 or 47 during the events of the movie, so he was considerably older than Ferrari’s driver Lorenzo Bandini and Bruce McLaren who were quite young in their 20s. Both McLaren (At 32) and Bandini (At 31 I think) also died on the track.
Fun fact: Due to their roles in this, Matt Damon and Christian Bale got to wave the starting flag for the 2019 Indy 500.
Ken Miles Wife was also a racer in her youth hence why she drove that car so well
