"It was not Hitler or Himmler who abducted me, beat me and shot my family. It was the shoemaker, the milkman, the neighbor, who received a uniform and then believed they were the master race." -Karl Stojka, an Austrian Romani artist and Auschwitz survivor

Brah... Once again, a difference of opinion is "I don't like cheese", not "I hate you because you are a different race than me"

You know, the Holocaust doesn’t turn up much in casual conversation. You have to really shoehorn it in to set up a joke, and even if you manage that your attempt at humor is at least 85 years out of date and probably not funny. It’s like me joking about throwing entire wedding parties into an active volcano. I don’t even own a volcano.

For story one, NTA, I think OP is just finally waking up to the reality that is her friend group. It's time to let them go

Story 2: if your wife doesn't trust you. Then you don't have a wife. Get out of there.

Story 2 - Isnt parental alienation a thing, and considered child abuse? I mean what stability? The mother raises the kids as a single mother, if she needs anyone else to do anything she asks her parents. What would the difference be if they divorced on the wife's side? So all the divorce will do is allow the kids to.... actually have a father. I wonder how the kids feel about never getting to spend time with their dad, that figure they look up to instinctively. Would the wife be happier if OP died or something?

Story 1: This is OP discovering the reality that her "friends" never liked her and took advantage of her, it's hard to accept such a reality, but it's the truth

Second Story, YWNBTA: OP's wife sound like she is trying to force gender roles. That said, OP's wife is weird for wanting OP to be an absent parent. OP needs to divorce and get 50/50 custody. Also, she is verbally abusive because she yells at OP everytime he is taking care of THEIR kids

German here. After learning about the Holocaust in school we actually went to Auschwitz on a school trip. I'll never forget seeing the ovens, the photos, etc. Those "jokes" in the first story were absolutely disgusting.

Story two: OP will probably find out why his wife doesn't want him to watch the kids if he goes through with the divorce, because she sounds like she'll announce her reason to the judge when it comes to custody. Because her just demanding "I don't want him to have any visitation with his own children, just let my own parents watch them!" won't fly in a courtroom. Honestly? She might be suffering from PPP and genuinely believes her husband might hurt the children if he is left alone with them. Like not even necessarily maliciously, maybe she genuinely thinks him being a man he might squeeze or hold the children the wrong way and accidentally injure them.
