Last story: I really don't understand people who need everyone in a group to all have the same interests. Even if OP didn't have trauma attached to superheroes, it would be perfectly fine for him to not like them.

Last story: The friend of a friend deserves a solid kick to the nuts if they have some. Trauma is trauma and if someone doesn't wish to expose themselves to it especially if it's something trivial as super hero movies then it's their own call and they shouldn't be judged for it. It's fine if friends group doesn't have carbon copy interests from each other.

S1: Rslash, you skipped the part where OP explained how her ex's parents were also racist and made racist jokes whenever they visited, such as pretending she didn't speak English. That makes OP's parents "we no speak English" response so much better!
