Honestly the guy with the racist parents... it's not that he doesn't know that racism exists. It sounds like Mom successfully hid her racism from him because she didn't want to lose her baby boy.
rSlash is so wrong about the guy with the racist mom. He does understand racism. What has him confused is the reality of who his mom is vs the image of her he knew his whole life. His whole life his mom was this really sweet and caring person only to be completely blindsided with the truth that she is really a hateful person. He is still processing the truth.

Go easy on the golden boy. He was wise/smart enough to get a second opinion from his sisters and actually listened to them! Everyone makes mistakes, sadly only a few learn from them. This guy has, and that makes him a keeper in my book.
The side comment in story 1 is even more horrifying when you know that alcohol is a blood thinner, making it that much easier to bleed out. So not only was he assualting her, he was also making it that much easier to seriously harm or kill her.
I feel bad for the OP with the racist mother. People really forget that when you have a large age gap between kids, the younger kids REALLY do not understand some of the issues going on in the family. OP was about 7 when his youngest older sister was able to drive and about 10 when she left for college. I cannot image a 5-10 year old boy paying attention to mom and sister during dating talk. OP seems like a good guy, if a bit naive.
