The teacher asking the child, "Did Mommy hit you?" Is considered leading. It's not okay. As a teacher, we are mandated reporters. You have to ask, "What happened? Are you okay?" And POSSIBLY, "Do you feel safe when you're at home." You don't implicate anyone or suggest anything!
Cps worker: "kids don't lie". Also cps worker: "the kid has to be lying"
"Kids don't lie about these things" has the same energy as "boys will be boys"
Story 2: YES THEY DO. Children lie about that stuff all the time and the CPS agent should've known that for being in the agency. As a kid who lied to CPS myself, we really are that stupid.
6:10 that cps worker destroyed a woman’s career, a marriage and quite possibly a stable parental situation for those two boys all because they were too stubborn to let the evidence speak for itself and accept the kid lied. I’m genuinely astonished they managed to make it go to an actual trial with only one piece of recanted testimony as evidence and seemingly no further investigation. That’s not someone just doing their job, that’s not even negligence. At that point you have to consider it malice.
"Kids don't lie." Have you ever met a kid before?
2nd story: I'm pretty sure that if a child WAS hit by a parent, they'd be more likely to lie about it than say yes.
I’m a preschool teacher and when one of my kids shows up with a boo-boo (which they always want to show us even if it happens outside of school) my first response is always “oh no, how did it happen?” Almost always the kid tripped or fell while playing/walking. Also Our mandated reporter trainings teach us not to jump to conclusions and to observe and collect evidence before we file reports, one black eye doesn’t really mean anything but if a kid shows up every week with a fresh bruises (especially in places that aren’t common places for bruises) and/or talks (unprompted by adults) about being hit that would sound off alarm bells
1st story: To anyone staying in a bad marriage "for the sake of the kid". You need to understand that having parents who clearly dislike each other is much worse for a child than having divorced parents.
KFC story: Okay, now that's just straight up petty and I love it. Bought the same amount of food again and only eating one piece and indirectly shaming the family for eating your share too. The fact you STILL invited them to eat just to watch them squirm and eventually apologize is the icing on the cake. I would NEVER let them forget this moment, ever.
