r/AITA for Evicting a Grieving Widow?

You're the first person I've seen read these stories who picked up on Judaism being both a culture/group and a religion. In this case, since the family has never observed Jewish customs and practices, I think the best way to put it would be that they have "Jewish ancestry." Also, it's not "halacha" as in "cha-cha," it's more "halakha" (as in challah) - a hard "ch."

rSlash: What you said about being Jewish is correct. I had an ex who was Jewish and several friends who are. It can be viewed as a race and a religion so you can be ethically Jewish but not practicing the faith and you can not be born Jewish but convert to the religion. It's a bit tricky.

Last story: you know it’s funny, my bro hates Italian food, but knows I love it. You know what we did for my birthday? He took me to an Italian restaurant, it had something he liked, but he made sure it was somewhere I would like. So mom’s thought process is complete BS, she’s a selfish jerk who made her own sister’s b-day about her. And her only defense makes no sense because she didn’t pay for her sis. also, if she had to guilt trip OP from disagreeing with her then she must know what she did was wrong.

First story: NTA. Steve isn't a "grieving widower", he's a grifter and gold digger. For what OP said his brother was probably having issues with Steve already, and would probably end the relation if he didn't died, and Steve wanting money outta the house he refuses to pay a single cent over the mortgage shows how greedy and entitled he is;

Third Story, YWNBTA: OP's brother is bad at planning. He agreed to the concert but then agreed to let the son go on vacation knowing when the concert will be? I’m sure OP's nephew will understand

For last story, mother sounds like a narcissist. If this is true, there is nothing you can say that will make the change. Time to set hard boundaries to the mother.

Story 2: My Dad and I burst out laughing when Op’s sister was like “You don’t think Jesus was Jewish, do you?” Jesus was Jewish

Last story: Op should of asked, "If you don't see why it was wrong, you won't mind me calling everyone and explaining what you did." I bet she knows it's wrong and would be upset if that happened to her. She's just being entitled.
