Story one has an update. Op told the mom that the next day, they were going to file the police report after a week had passed, and then miraculously, the $100 was given

For the apology story there are two updates. In the first update OP’s wife doubled down in saying that their 13 year old son has an attitude problem and OP isn’t supporting her and she got in trouble at work and claims she quit her job. In the second update she finally does apologize to their son but she believes that their kids are spoiled and soft and need strict discipline. She didn’t quit her job but she did just leave after yelling at a coworker to shut up and but OP’s sister managed to convince them not to fire his wife but to give her a mental health leave. Basically wife is a control freak and Op hired a divorce lawyer if she tries to be authoritarian with their kids again

First Story, NTA: The charge won’t stick to the 11 year old but the parents will be responsible for it. OP should file a report and take this to small claims court.

Story 2: I feel sorry for OP. It must be difficult being a single parent of 4 children.

1st story: 1000% press charges. The 11 year old won't go to jail but will be scared straight.

There's an update on the second story and there's several red flags imo? Starting with his wife actually leaving the house and taking their 4 year old with her to stay at a hotel. OP did pick up his 4 year old from a doctor's appointment but his wife stayed at the hotel for the next few days before claiming she got fired from her job. Which was a lie since a coworker reached out and said she wasn't, she was suspended for yelling at a coworker. Her and OP also fought again when she brought the kids from school with OP's wife leaving for her sister's this time who pushed her to make a deal with her boss to go on mental health leave to avoid getting fired. As for the kids, turns out OP's wife is stressing out the 13 year old son and 8 year old daughter. Their son doesn't have ADD or autism while the psychologist pointed out that his behavior came from anxiety and his wife's sister got her to apologize, but it was awkward. The teacher told OP that their daughter has no learning disability and is on par with other kids her age, but the stress is causing problems with work at home so now her brother is checking her math. Lastly, turns out their 4 year old is allergic to soy and is no longer vomiting now that they're keeping an eye on their food. But the biggest thing is that the reason that the wife has been feeling overwhelmed, and this is how she said it, is that she realizes they aren't going to have another kid and thinks the kids are spoiled, soft, undisciplined, and unmotivated. That she believes they need to surpass their peers. OP called her out saying she wanted to control people and that it was a dealbreaker and both agreed that she should spend the rest of the time there relaxing before leaving on a trip with her sister, if not leaving the house earlier. Lastly, OP has said that he does have a lawyer retained and is prepared for divorce if she goes back to behaving that way and ultimately putting his kids first.

I get that OP in the third story is still in the rough stages of it, but, honesty, the trash took itself out here and OP should remember that when their family tries to crawl back for something after the grey rocking didn’t work.

Story 1: if they’re old enough to commit the crime, they’re old enough to face the consequences of it. I don’t know why people think if you ignore something long enough it’ll go away. But when that plan fails, watch how fast they start screaming and crying about how unfair it is the kid is in trouble. OP was more than nice to the people that stole from their child. Now it’s time to stop being nice and the man the full payment for the phone..

1st story: I'd be willing to bet money the phone wasn't smashed at all. They just claimed that so they didn't have to return it.
