Nothing is enough in 2025. Employers have sky-high expectations without the rewards that should come with it.
Nowadays you need to design an entire distributed system that can scale, solve 1000 leetcode problems, have sales experience at Blackstone, and have successfully exited a multimillion dollar tech firm, just for Jr dev roles.

Tim, these tech companies hire according to culture, not just skill. You never acknowledge that, but you know it...
None of this matters if companies are on a layoff spree across the board which they are. They are using "AI" as the excuse to downsize and shore up financing by way of stock buybacks. Nepotism is really the only surefire way to get work these days - so start calling everyone you know in the industry. Recruiters are useless at this point, HR is useless at this point.
