As a 25 y/o black woman navigating the world without my parents, this is necessary and much appreciated. Thank you! Women like Michelle Obama and Maya Angelou have helped mold me into the woman that I am, when my elders and mothers couldn’t be physically present. Thank you again.

Excellent interview, thank you. Out of all the wise and intriguing things that Michelle shared, what struck me the most personally are her comments on 1) her and her brother’s parents not only loving them but also believing in them 2) seeing through the naysayers and trusting and doing you anyway and 3) living your life with some purpose to help others in society. She’s so intelligent, so well-spoken and so real. What a wonderful role model. Hearing her opening up about her own marital challenges is another good reminder that when you’re vulnerable enough to share your not perfect moments or struggles, people will actually like you and respect you more (except maybe for those who aren’t ready or afraid of their own authenticity). Also I think Steven is becoming an even better interviewer. I always appreciate how he doesn’t interrupt and talk over his guests like many of the podcasters do so unfortunately. His responses also are neutral and non-judgemental. That really helps the listeners because it leaves a room for them/us to react, feel, think, and form our own opinions and thoughts without bias. A great example.
