Brene Brown: We're In A Spiritual Crisis! The Hidden Epidemic No One Wants To Admit!
Brené Brown on Unlocking Courage Through Vulnerability and Trust
Learn why self-protection (armor) is the true enemy of bravery, and how decades of research reveal proven ways to build unbreakable trust and access deeper connection.
Short Summary
- Define courage as the willingness to show up fully when you cannot predict the outcome.
- Recognize that fitting in is the greatest threat to achieving true belonging and self-acceptance.
- Master the four foundational skill sets required for practicing courage, even in organizational structures.
- Understand how earning trust happens through small, continuous daily deposits, not grand gestures during crises.
Brené Brown discusses her research origins, the dangers of emotional restriction stemming from childhood, and practical frameworks for navigating modern complexity, including politics, AI narratives, and leadership. These concepts equip readers to move past shame and perfectionism to develop grounded confidence.

Would love to see an interview with Jim Carrey
Thanks so much for not editing out the pauses. They are so useful in podcasts for understanding the nuances in intimate conversations and I hate when they get omitted
Quick question, do you like these types of convos? If so please hit the like button on the vid - that’s the best way to let us know ❤ (also, would be doing me a big favour if you could subscribe & join our community 🙏🏾🥲) i appreciate you - SB! X
I have never commented here before. I have 2 of Brené's books. They were recommended to me in 2020 during therapy after my husband of 38 years left me for a co-worker. His second time in our marriage. I divorced him. This brings me to why I'm writing...joy. I chose each day to live in joy! Even when my life has struggles, which is often as a 63 yr old gal getting back to work, to living single. Joy. Joy in the smallest things, a bird singing, a pretty flower, up to finding a good and honest plumber, having enought in my budget to put money away for a rainy day! One of my sons told me about your podcasts. I watch everything you put on youtube. God bless you. May He become real to you. You bless us! ❤
Her idea of a “spiritual crisis” feels painfully accurate. We’re not dying from lack of information; we’re starving for connection. The human nervous system was built for belonging, not for algorithms.
"Because the Person That I'm Going to Betray Last, Is Me." BRAVO👏🏼
"Joy is so vulnerable that we dress rehearse tragedy to prepare for disappointment." This one took me out!
It’s so refreshing to hear real-time pauses. Thank you for not editing those out, it provides emphasis and sets the tone for a thoughtful conversation.
As the pastor of a small diverse church in Texas (with people on the right AND left) and someone who endeavors to be apolitical from the pulpit - I felt so seen and validated by this podcast. It is so hard 😢 I’ve cried a lot. How do we help people care more about connection than defending their side? If we can’t we will all end up in our personal sized bunkers! Please continue to listen and talk to people on both sides 🎉
33:32 "I want my kids to know systems thinking. I want my kids to know anticipatory thinking. Situational awareness. Temporal awareness. I want my kids to have this complex set of skills... I want them to own their mind. Own their intellect. Own their attention and own their focus. I want them to read. I want them to understand history. I want them to develop pattern recognition skills. Cause these are the skills of the future. I want them to be able to hold the tension of nuance and paradox. When everything in their brain is saying, ‘pick one, pick one, reconcile, I’m uncomfortable…’ That’s neurobiology." It's just. So. GOOD.
