On taxes: I visited a friend in Australia for 2 weeks literally years ago, and I still talk about how glorious it was to walk up to the register and know EXACTLY how much I was going to pay for my purchase.

My first job in high school, I was a file clerk at a CA legal and accounting firm. I would open all of the tax code change packets that came in the mail. Then I would go to the law library and spend hours pulling outdated tax code pages and inserting the revised code pages. Oh how times have changed!

I remember my first lesson about tax from my dad. At grocery store in toy section. I asked to buy the toy. Dad. Do you have enough money. Me. Yes. Dad. How much do you have? Me. $1 Dad. You don’t have enough money. Me. Yes, I do. It’s $0.99. I have $1.00. Dad. You don’t have enough. Me. (Confused) This is when my dad told me about tax and it’s the first time I learned about disliking tax. 😂 I didn’t get the toy that day. Tax here is 8.25%. My parent could have given me the $0.08. They didn’t. Lesson learned. 😂♥️🤷🏻‍♀️
