About kaolinite, not necessarily it is formed in extreme humid rain-forest-like environments. For example, it could been produced at volcanoes, related to acid alteration by hidrothermalism (yes, you need water, but maybe underground water). So the interpretation need to be very in context. (I'm a geologist)
