My most unfounded belief is that if we ever do detect an undeniable alien signal we'll discover afterwards that we had actually detected several other signals already & didn't realize it.
It’s like billions of people cried out at once, and were suddenly silenced.
A thing I love about astronomy and cosmology is that you can go back and look at old data to find new insights.
So, we still don't know what it was, but now in more detail...
