It’s astonishing how many people in the comments struggle with understanding nuanced ideas. Dr. Rhonda Patrick explicitly states at the outset that completely avoiding microplastics is impossible. She is merely outlining their negative health effects and highlighting major sources to help people minimize overexposure.
We can only do our best. A good water filter. Use jars & glass. Never heat in plastic. Buy glass stored items. And get rid of your inflatable love dolls.
Listening to them talk about the plastic water bottles being in the heat, I could help but laugh thinking back to all the ‘water caches’ around the various FOBs I was stationed at while in Iraq and how then all I was worried about was how much sand and dirt was caked to them not the microplastics that were leached and I was ingesting all year long! And then the giant plastic water tanks that held our non potable for showers and brushing our teeth and how once afternoon rolled around there was no need for a water heater as the water coming from the tanks was hot all on its own!
I hate that I didn’t get notified about this episode, stupid algorithm…banger of a show here thanks guys
Fantastic episode! Rhonda is great, I always come away with practical tips on things to do whenever I watch her. Please get her back soon and add her into your regular guest rotation :)

Dr Rhonda Patrick is so awesome, she and Huberman have changed my life
As interesting as this was, I noticed it was extremely light on the WHY you should avoid microplastics unless you're pregnant or trying to be. Yes, she also mentioned Alzheimer's a couple of times, but Alzheimer's is so confounding that nearly everything at this point has some association. I'm not saying she's wrong about any of it, I just need more why to be convinced of anything.
