Federal Corporate Control Exposed Amidst State Election Previews

Uncover why political observers ignore systemic government control over private business while raging against local "socialism," and analyze shifting voter turnout dynamics ahead of critical state elections.

Short Summary

  • Attackers anticipate hyperbole over Zorin Mumani’s local "socialism" following his NYC election.
  • The federal government partnered with Westinghouse, securing significant equity stakes and profit participation in nuclear reactor construction.
  • This scale of government intervention contradicts standard Republican arguments against "picking winners and losers."
  • Virginia’s election hinges on whether high turnout reflects an anti-Trump corrective or benefits established candidates.
  • Analysts distinguish between "European style democratic socialism" and the observed Chinese-style "state socialism" in US policy.

This discussion contrasts outrage aimed at minor local progressive policies with massive federal investment schemes that grant the government ownership stakes in private corporations. JVL and Sarah then pivot to analyzing the upcoming elections in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York, focusing especially on whether current high turnout suggests a backlash against Trumpism.

Socialism has existed in USA for a long time, just only for the rich. Part of the whole reverse Robin Hood the BBB is based on.

Mamdani’s proposal is a non-profit model, like the YMCA or community rec centers are to private health clubs. There’s nothing unusual about the model.

Republicans have always been socialists. Just for corporations and the super wealthy. The distance between, say, the oil and gas industry having it's own laundry list of special tax exemptions, havens, etc... and the government just buying part of Intel isn't all that large of a gap. The first example is even recurring annually, so, hard to get all that worked up about any government bailing out a company of national importance and security such as Intel and actually getting part of the use of taxpayer money back directly. We still play pretend that most of the Defense Industry are private companies. You know, the entire situation where the US tax payer is their only client, they are our literal physical defense from harm, and yet, we bow to their whims and contract overruns? Will any part of the Intel ownership be used or employed for anything good and worthwhile? Not with the current administration. It'll probably find its way to being invested in someone's crypto racquet. China isn't socialist. They all have healthcare or any other hallmarks of socialism right? But, afterall, the US is the worlds largest ship builder, able to produce any electronics needed for national defence and....oh, no, we have none of those and more.

I’ve heard Mamdani is planning to use taxpayer dollars to support schools and infrastructure projects and a police department and a fire department and subways . The list goes on and on. This is pure Socialism and God only knows how to it will end.

4:50 That’s not socialism that’s fascism. State, corporate partnership and state control. Socialism is specifically WORKERS having some means of control over their means of production
