why didn't i die before hearing this
Vega OS announcement is a gut punch—Amazon’s locking devs into React Native 0.72 (that’s 2023 tech, while 0.82 just dropped ). Ditching Android entirely crushes the ecosystem and guts Android-exclusive features we rely in how. Feels like they’re dragging us backward.
What if my OS was React Native? I'd write another OS.
Interesting that the desktop Linux is moving away from DLLs at the same time that Vega is essentially adding DLLs to their OS.
Yeah considering one of the few goals of an operating system is to reduce overhead as much as possible this isn’t a great idea. JS does have performance limitations
Funny, LG did this with Flutter for their TVs
writing my OS in JS? Honestly, it was gonna happen sooner or later
I hadn’t quite realized the scale of difference between building React and React Native. Thanks!
I just keep hearing an 8-bit choir singing “Veeeee-gaaaaa!”
Devices getting more powerful feels like buying bigger pants because you keep eating McDonalds. The subject of this video is the equivalent of buying two more Big Macs.
