Saw the video around 2 weeks ago and someone in the comments said something along the lines of "Theo is gonna watch this and spaz out for an hour". Here we are! A bit late but okay

I worked at Walmart when they moved the shopping app, from React Native (it was entirely RN but partially) to the Native iOS and Android it was called project Glass. A lot of their instore and warehouse apps still use React Native though. I helped build the native plugins for the POS peripherals for there Android and iPadOS checkout applications which were built with ReactNative.

When people go to this showcase to see what apps use React Native, they'll assume you mean the apps listed are built using RN and not a part of it. If the page has stated that some parts of the apps are built in RN, then nobody will make assumptions that are wrong.

To be fair the original video did help dispel misconceptions I had with react native. I thought big apps were using it for most of their flagship app. I think a lot of casuals might have that misconception because of the native react hype

To be fair, building with React Native is kinda different than integrating it And React Native is usually advertised as a full alternative to learning the native languages Then you have all this apps using it, while not telling that they actually use the native languages along with it And therefore, you would probably also have to learn the native technologies at a minimum for a cross platform app

I have to admit that you got a lot of insight, Theo! I watched the Tastemaker video first, then this. Impressed with how you detail it and what you actually know.

Lovely video. I am not a mobile dev but I was on my way to start going down that path (from server side). And I was surprised to see that video saying React was a wrong move when I had the feeling it was the total opposite listening to people in the industry.

Theo, I just start learning FE half a year ago. Although some topcis you covered, I cannot fully understand. But I really like your style of filming youtube. It is one of the few ways I can keep up with what's going on in the modern web development.
