Description

In 1975, 60 Minutes' Mike Wallace spoke with Clint Hill, the Secret Service agent who jumped onto JFK's limousine after the president was shot. Hill, who was forced to retire early because he remained haunted by memories of the assassination, died Friday at the age of 93. "60 Minutes" is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10. A tremendous man that lived with the ultimate form of survivor's guilt and PTSD, but yet was a gentleman til the end. Rest well, Agent Hill.

The pain in his face is so real and so very raw. I hope he's finally found peace from the events of that day

If anyone reading this hasn't read Mr. Hill's books, I highly recommend them. He had a true knack for sharing his life stories and situations, and sharing a window to history at the same time. Rest now, Clint Hill. You're officially off duty. 🙏

He was the bravest agent in Dallas that day. He was assigned to protect Mrs. Kennedy, not the president. That means he not only had to get to the limousine, he would have had to cross over to the other side of the car to get to JFK; an impossible task. None of the other agents made a move. Hill is a hero. If not for him Mrs. Kennedy would have fallen into the street and been run over by the follow-up car. Great job Mr. Hill. You couldn't save everyone, but you did save Mrs. Kennedy in the last moments of her tenure as First Lady. Rest in peace, sir.

This is tough to watch. The pain in his face is genuine. Now I understand why he was silent for decades after this interview.
