Addressing Entitlement: Defending Boundaries From Party Crashers to Parking Lot Sales
Learn how to reclaim control when entitled individuals demand entry to private events, set firm lines against outdated domestic expectations, and manage consequences for family members causing financial strain.
Short Summary
- Stand firm against individuals attempting to circumvent private event rules for free food or access.
- Clearly define non-negotiable expectations for domestic labor splits (50/50 vs. traditional roles) early in a committed relationship.
- Apply direct, proportional financial consequences to adult dependents who cause measurable increases in family expenses. This episode reviews five scenarios where callers successfully defended personal boundaries, from confronting food-demanding strangers at a birthday party to enforcing budgetary rules on a 19-year-old son. These verdicts provide guidance on when to yield and when to enforce necessary limits.

"WHAT IS A SANDWICH" "Apparently something you can't afford."
With 13 kids of course the wife has that house run like a well oiled machine. It's a full time job with less than half the amount of kids.
People need to learn to shout out "HOLD IT!" and "OBJECTION!" from Ace Attorney when dealing with Karens. And in extreme cases, "SILENCE." and "SUCH INSOLENCE!"
Best relationship advice I got was "It's not 50/50, it's 60/40 with both partners trying to do the 60 part"
Story 2: Bro, 13 kids in this day and age!? Holy shit that husband must be making bank to afford all of that! Also I know the OP didn’t say it, but I wonder if her ex-boyfriend comes from a Mormon family? Edit: Not trying to single out Mormons, but from hearing stories about huge families with a stay at home mom like this, it’s usually Mormons.
Hair story : girl wasnt being selfless, she wanted the gold star from OP and a new hairstyle, courtesy of OP. Also, i really hope she didnt donate to Locks of Love because there is very little 'love' in that charity
Story 3: NTA. Not being hospitable?? OP allowed you to stay at her place completely rent free, how is that not hospitable enough? Are you seriously gonna throw a hissy fit over not getting your super specific coffee? If you want that so badly, go to Starbucks or something. OP is being more than hospitable, hell, she even OFFERED TO MAKE YOU THE COFFEE!
Story 5: if you don’t want to sell something you just got for yourself then you don’t have to. Also did they seriously tried to go over OP’s head by telling her husband, as if she’s a child? Yeah that’s the end of any conversation conversations with these people.
Fourth Story, NTA: Her reasoning is dumb as hell. What was OP suppose to do, discourage her? SHE chose to cut her hair and SHE chose to donate her hair; but now that she regrets doing that OP has to pay to fix her choices? Yeaaaah no. She can pay for her own choices
"What is a sandwich" - "well, if you have not figured that out yet, I doubt there is any hope."
