Metabolic Disease, Brain Health, and the Carnivore Diet Rationale

Learn why shifting away from carbohydrates may starve cancer cells, normalize autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto’s, and reveal the true metabolic state of the human brain.

Short Summary

  • Remove plant-based inflammatory triggers like lectins to allow the immune system to self-regulate and prevent autoimmune attacks on tissues like the thyroid.
  • View cancer, including aggressive GBM, as primarily a disruption of mitochondrial function, which can be addressed metabolically by limiting glucose.
  • Prioritize fatty meat consumption (skeletal muscle) over organ meats for dietary proportionality, mimicking historical and natural consumption patterns.
  • This discussion also covers the tactile reality of neurosurgery and the physical signs of metabolic decline visible in bone structure.

This segment explores the deep connection between diet, chronic disease, and cellular energy production. It challenges the necessity of carbohydrates and highlights metabolic interventions for severe conditions like brain tumors, using insights from neurology and nutritional biochemistry.

I’m a 51 year Dirty Carnivore. I keep pinching myself that I chose the right way to eat 51 years ago…. I’m 70 years old, now…. And old age has not hit me. I am just SO grateful that I had the brains to choose the right way to eat. I’m being rewarded in my 70’s…. Keep up the great work, Anthony! Good to see Matt on your podcast.

It blows my mind when I hear someone that answers "I could never let go of bread and cookies". Like do you realize how much of an addiction you have? It's the exact same thing an heroine addict would say when faced with the devastating effect of their addiction on their health!

I'm 69, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 2/23. I had surgery to remove cancer and both ovaries. I refused chemotherapy and went on a strict keto/carnivore diet. Just had another check up with oncologist, no sign of cancer returning! I also lost 35 lbs, blood pressure down to normal, lichan planus is gone, asthma symptoms are gone, excema is gone and i feel great! Doctor advised me to keep doing what I've been doing!

the only thing dying on a carnivore diet or a mostly meat diet is the pharmaceutical company and the medical industrial complex. I eat a 95% meat based diet (once in a while I grab some ice cream in the summer) since 2015 and outside of a car accident with injuries, haven't been to the doctor in 10 years.

My thyroid is functioning on its own since I been carnivore 8 months! I’ve taken synthroid for 25yrs. My levels have never been where they are. They are considering lowering my dose or taking me off (titrating).

I remember when i made the decision 7 years ago to take the carnivore plunge due to severe disordered eating, carb addiction, prediabetes, and mental health disorders. I remember the intense sadness i felt at the prospect of living a life without carbs ever. I felt so depressed and thought life would be so depressing but i did it for the hope of relief from illnesses that failed to respond to all other treatments. Little did i know that once you get past the addiction withdrawl from the loss of carbs, it became the easiest way of eating, living. It took time to really recover from the addictions. Cheating only kept the addiction alive longer. All i crave now is meat and butter. I havent felt addictive type hunger in years. Hunger on carnivore is so much more subtle than the hunger felt on a carby diet. I am free from cravings. I am fitter than i was in my 20s with way less effort. Im lean and muscular and i am a perimenopausal 46 year old with 2 kids. I know so many that are so sick but cant imagine a life without their addiction (carbs). They would rather go any treatment route, despite being way less effective if it means keeping their addiction. Its simply because they cant imagine ever not wanting those carbs. A lifetime of assumed intense hunger and cravings that cannot be fed seems more miserable than the disease they suffer from. If only we could convince them that the addiction goes away completely along with their disease.

I'm 70, Watching this while I'm eating lunch - pork ribs with sugar-free bbq sauce. I had 1/2 ribeye for breakfast, and I have ribyeye planned again for dinner. I'm 'dirty' carnivore at home, but eat a wider diet when traveling - either with family or on vacation. I still try to stay low carb, and avoid processed foods.
