If you don’t have enough vitamin D, it can interfere with the genes responsible for hair growth. There is also a very high concentration of vitamin D receptors in the hair follicle. Without enough vitamin D, your immune system is at risk of autoimmune conditions, including alopecia. Vitamin D supports the T cells that help combat autoimmune diseases. Psoriasis, dandruff, and dermatitis are also related to low vitamin D. Magnesium is the most potent regulator of calcium and is involved with enzymes important for hair health. It’s also essential for the proper function of vitamin D. There are 2 systems of vitamin D: one that controls calcium and one that has several functions, including hair growth and hair restoration. This form of vitamin D has a 24-hour half-life, so you need daily sun or supplements to prevent a hair loss problem. There is a worldwide vitamin D deficiency epidemic! Several factors contribute to this massive vitamin D deficiency problem, including genetics, skin color, insulin resistance, diabetes, obesity, and air pollution. Your blood vitamin D levels should be at least 70 to 100 ng/mL. You need at least 20,000 IU of vitamin D daily and 50 mg of magnesium to support hair growth. I have been completely bald on the top of my head for 10 years. I started taking 10000 to 12500 IU's per day of D3 as well as 50mg of K2 and 400mg of Magnesium which has now reduced to 200mg. I also take 50mg of Zinc and 400mg of vitamin E. I top it off with 1000mg of C. I do this everyday as well as a decent workout regime for the last 5 months and I am growing hair where there was none previously. This is very encouraging. The hair is getting thick enough in places to now be seen in my shadow when I'm standing outside in the Sun. This hair regrowth has turned out to be a happy accident as I was primarily taking the supplements for my general health and Sleep issues. I have 20 years in the medical field as a physician assistant, even though I haven’t practiced for years I have quite a bit of medical knowledge. I also love to research all things holistic, but every time I watch your videos, I learn so much. Every single deficiency you discussed in this video I have and I have thinning hair, hair, loss, brittle hair, and dry hair. I always thought it was due to autoimmune conditions, but I have every single mineral deficiency and hormone deficiency you described thank you for your videos and taking time to educate the world when doctors don’t care at least the MDs don’t. In 30 years of trying to get help in the doctors office I’ve never learned anything from them about my hair loss, my fatigue or any of my symptoms but in your one video today, I learned everything I need to know.

I had hip joint pain, knee pain, neuropathy in my right foot and hair loss. I am a 67 year old male. Three months ago I started taking 50,000 ius of D3, 500 mg of K2, 200 mg of magnesium, 100 mg of zinc, omega 3 plus benfotiamine, ala and B12 on a daily basis. Thank you Dr Berg for your videos. I now have no joint pain, my foot pain is gone, my hair is becoming strong again and is not falling out and covering my pillow. My teeth are whiter and I have no plaque build up.
