jokes on you. i was dumb and slow even before ai
When i read ”dumb and slow”, i know this video is for me.
I want to share something. I solved a bug on a open source project, and created a pr for it. I missed some tests on the pr because it was my first on this project. The owner of the project took my solution, and gave it to Claude, close my pr, and committed the code Claude generated. Needless to say I won't be contributing to this project again.
I'm so tired of AI this, AI that. As if nothing new and cool is happening anywhere else
I can't see "RCT" without thinking "RollerCoaster Tycoon"
"You're just prompting it wrong"
I taught myself PHP by asking a model “what’s wrong with this” and getting it to walk me through the steps I should take, then I’d do it myself. I learned faster than I learned a couple simpler languages while completely bypassing hallucinations because I wrote the actual code by hand. In my experience, AI has about a 70% accuracy rate for identifying mistakes and about a 30% rate of generating code that works even close to correctly out of the box. It’s saved me a crazy amount of time in the long run to use it as a teaching assistant to point me towards things I need to learn on my own, and I would have wasted more time than I’ve saved by trying to decode the slop it generates on a good day. No reliance on AI, way less usage than vibe coding, and I’m learning on my own, just fast tracking the discovery process which doesn’t have nearly the cognitive downsides as offloading brain function to a model.
Alberta on the standup! YES. Loved seeing low level on there too
AI made me so mentally incapacitated, I had to ask it if I should be surprised by the Epstein Files coverup
Ai is really good at singular isolated updates. When it comes to complex systems it becomes a much bigger pain in the ass.
