Short Summary
- Identify how self-interest (financial stability, family planning) postpones moral action.
- Pinpoint the specific events (McCain comments, Dobbs ruling context) that chipped away at his political commitment.
- Understand that an insider's departure often requires witnessing systemic failure that is personally unexplainable.

I commend you, Miles, for not simply leaving but for publicly telling your story. Thank you.
I am 65 and was a Republican my whole life. The majority of my friends and all of my family are Republicans, but I walked away when Trump was nominated in 2016! Most Republicans with integrity did. I am sorry it took you so long, but I know it was easier for me because my lively hood didn’t depend on my decision. I’m glad you were able to finally walk away. The Republican Party doesn’t even exist anymore! I wish a bright and prosperous future for you!
It's so encouraging to see people changing their minds. It's never too late. It's healthy!
Republican motto: “I didn’t care until it affected me.”
Welcome aboard, Miles! We're glad to have you! Can't wait to read your piece.
The GOP lost me when Reagan sold that 'trickle down' bullsh!t. It's hard to believe that the moronic con has lasted 45 years! I was 12 when he was elected the first time.
I read the article this morning and want to tell Miles that it's never too late to do the right thing.
I was a lifelong Republican, but left the party to become independent about a month after January 6th, when I realized not only was the party not going to turn on Trump after 1/6, after losing the presidency and both chambers of Congress, they were doubling down on him and going after Liz Cheney. I started voting blue back in 2016, but I had always hoped this was a temporary insanity and that the party would regain its senses once he was gone. I finally had to admit that wasn't happening.
I’m an old veteran and I am very proud of you Miles!! You as well Sam😁 It takes all of us to change this administration.
Good on you miles, I know it took a whole bunch of courage to do this and thank you
