"Why does he have a stethoscope?" ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ Back in the olden days that's what people used to listen to the movie on an airplane, it plugged into the chair.
RIP John Ashton, who gave two of the best supporting performances of the 80s as Sgt Taggart in Beverly Hills Cop and Marvin Dorfler in Midnight Run. Both films directed by Martin Brest.
Midnight Run is the absolute best buddy road movie, ever. So, so great.
An absolute CLASSIC! They donโt make movies like this anymore.
I missed Charles Grodin's style of comedy, that deadpan improvised delivery was just so funny :)
Hi! I wanted to finish out buddy cop & pop week on YT! S5:1-2 of GOT will be up next week! Full reactions for S5:1-4 are up on Patreon!
Such an underappreciated film, not enough people give it credit. Great cast, well written, full of memorable scenes.
Man I'm feeling old. I remember seeing this in the theater. It was just as good then as now.
Fun Fact: The boxcar scene where Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro) and John Mardukas (Charles Grodin) discuss whether or not they could ever be friends was almost entirely improvised on-set. Regarding Charles Grodin's famous line, "You ever had sex with an animal, Jack?": he was told by director Martin Brest to come up with something that was guaranteed to make even Robert De Niro laugh. Also, Robert De Niro spent time with bounty hunters as part of his preparation for this role and John Ashton said that Robert De Niro got into his part so much that he actually hit John Ashton during the fight scene on the train.
The scene with his daughter KILLS me every time. That tiny little girl matches up with deniro like a pro. I assume she was just a regular kid trying to be an actor, but she was so real. I'm dad-aged, and her trying to give her dad money tears my heart out.
