So basically, move out into the wild and don't eat anything made or packaged by man. Gotcha.

I've been practicing intermittent fasting, where I have dinner around 5 PM and breakfast at 10 AM, and I exercise for about an hour each day, five days a week. This routine has helped me lose a significant amount of weight. For nine months, I also took Mounjaro, which aided in my weight management. I’ve eliminated sugar from my coffee and tea, and I typically avoid carbs in the morning; however, I do allow myself sometimes a small amount of carbs at dinner. On weekends, I sometimes include carbs at breakfast, which is the only time I do this. For breakfast, I usually have a mix of fruit like blueberries, strawberries, and sometimes bananas, along with plain yogurt, 1 small cucumber and two eggs. For dinner, my meals often consist of sardines or meat paired with a salad or spinach are small. Occasionally, I include very small portions of carbs, like potatoes or rice but this is not often. Overall, I feel fantastic since adopting this fasting approach and cutting out sugar and processed foods. I sleep better 10pm I feel great for almost 2 years I lost 70 pounds in 1 year I kept my weight. This lifestyle change has significantly improved my well-being. I am 66 years old woman.❤

The "Bad" List: Toxins & Habits Plastic Food Containers & Utensils [00:25] Why: When plastic is heated (in the microwave or by hot food), endocrine-disrupting chemicals like BPA and phthalates leach into your food. These interfere with your hormones. Instead: Use glass, stainless steel, or ceramic containers and wooden or metal utensils. Thermal Paper Receipts [00:32] Why: Most receipts are coated with BPA or BPS. This chemical is absorbed through the skin and has been linked to a 50% reduction in testosterone in adolescent boys. Instead: Opt for digital/email receipts or, if you must take a paper one, avoid touching the printed side and wash your hands immediately after. Recycled Electronics in Products [00:11] Why: Some plastic products made from recycled electronics can contain flame retardants and other heavy metals not intended for food or skin contact. Instead: Look for products labeled BPA-free or made from virgin, food-grade materials. Alcohol Consumption [20:53] Why: Alcohol is a primary driver of visceral fat (the "beer belly"), which is the dangerous fat stored around your organs. This leads to insulin resistance and chronic inflammation. Instead: Switch to sparkling water with lime or herbal teas to reduce liquid calorie and toxin intake. Sedentary Lifestyle [22:55] Why: Physical inactivity makes your cells less responsive to insulin. This causes glucose to sit in your bloodstream, damaging your vessels and organs. Instead: Incorporate 5 hours of exercise per week, including high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which can "reverse heart aging by 20 years" [01:21]. Poor Sleep [01:28] Why: Lack of sleep causes your immune system to age rapidly and significantly spikes your fasting blood glucose levels, even if you eat healthy [02:36:55]. Instead: Prioritize a consistent sleep schedule. If you need a late-night snack, choose something light like a protein shake with almond milk or a small amount of resistant starch (like a cooled baked potato) to help with sleep [19:31]. Heavy Meals Before Bed [19:20] Why: Eating heavy, calorie-dense meals late at night disrupts your metabolic rhythm and can lead to weight gain and poor sleep quality. Instead: Practice intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating, ensuring your last meal is several hours before sleep [25:41]

Super informative and helpful - one thing I'd like to say is I lost 26kg purely by being in a calorific deficit of 200-500 kcal a day and by doing 10-15k steps a day, do not underestimate the power of walking!

My father, who was a doctor and spoke about 20 languages and wrote books and poetry still got dementia before he died at around 84 years old. So there’s obviously more to it than just using your brain to keep you from getting dementia.

Steven My name is Mitch Ness and I am a Director and DOP from Toronto and a massive fan of your DOAC Podcast! Thank you for your amazing work which includes so many fascinating guests who cover so many interesting topics - health, finance, world politics etc! I am also a huge fan of Dr Rhonda Patrick and I do my best to spread the word about the two of you - your podcast as well as Rhonda's work. I am 63 years old and have been studying ketogenic diets, intermittent fasting, healthier food choices and supplements for the past couple of years. This episode really hit home as I am in the process of trying to shed that dangerous visceral fat - and I will! Because this podcast is so information dense - which I love - I have taken 5 pages of notes in my health notebook from this episode and have already ordered Urolithin A and L-Glutamine. So here is my confusion/questions regarding this episode - and please do not take this as a criticism. Based on my notes from this podcast I have a list of new supplements which I am going to purchase and introduce to my daily regimen. The only missing bit of information is the following: 1: For each of the supplements what is the recommended daily dose and in some cases should I take the supplement a number of times a day? 2: When should I take each supplement - before a meal? on an empty stomach? after a meal? 3: Which if these supplements will break my fast? For example - I have black coffee with MCT oil every morning and that does not break my fast 4: I turned on the CC to figure out the correct spelling of the supplements and chemicals Dr. Patrick spoke about but the CC'ing was auto generated and most of the time the spelling was wrong. So it would be really helpful to have graphics on the screen to see the correct spelling of these supplements and chemicals. So based on my notes above - would it be possible to add to the information area (where the description of the podcast and links appear) the full list of supplements that Rhonda suggested and some information regarding the daily dose and how/when to take them? I think that would be really helpful. I am also going to oder some Keto Shots - I am starting the second season of a tv series in a couple of weeks where I will be directing 8 episodes and looking forward to trying these shots - especially in the middle of the day! Again Steven, thank you for your incredible work/podcast and look forward to listening to many more in the near future. Cheers Mitch
