Keto for 4 years! Eat nothing in a packet, no sugar, no flour, no fruit except berries, no pasta, no grains, no milk and NO seed oils. Eradicated the horrific pain of a 7-year inflammatory brain disease. Seriously high BP and I was medicated to the eyeballs. I am off all medication as of 4 years ago. And 30kg of steroid fat fell off me in 5 months. Just meat, chicken and seafood and lots of eggs, Greek yoghurt, and veggies, mostly cruciferous. I also do a lot of fasting and only eat once a day. I'm 63. Great podcast. This man should be making a global public service announcement.

My father recently became gravely ill with liver failure and was given only two weeks to live without a transplant. Tragically, almost everyone in my family had fatty liver disease and couldn’t donate- except me. I was able to proudly step forward as a live liver donor and donate 63% of my liver to save his life. Today, both of us are fit and well. My point is this: I could only help him because I had spent years looking after my own health- eating well, staying active, and monitoring my metabolic health. The liver is remarkable. It’s one of the few organs that can regenerate and recover, even after years of neglect or abuse, if you start looking after it in time. But many people don’t realise there’s a problem until it’s far advanced.
David is right. I'm one of many who reversed Type 2 Diabetes. I did it in my 50s and I have been in remission for 15 years. I ignored the mainstream GPs advice and took zero meds. Instead I adopted a low carb diet, no added sugar, zero seed oils, zero ultra processed food and I fast. I dropped over 30kgs. Anyone can do it, they just need accurate advice.
This was hands down one of the best episodes I've watched. I have type 2 diabetes, severe foot neuropathy and an eating disorder. I listened to every word and it really hit home especially about the toes being amputated. My 2 little toes are quite bad, not gangrene, but if i don't change my habits i will lose them. I am going to make change! ❤
This is THE BEST interview you’ve ever done. And I’ve seen many countless videos of your interviews. I COULD LISTEN TO THIS MAN ALL DAY. HIS HUMBLE NATURE AND HIS HONESTY IS REFRESHING IN A WORLD, FULL OF SMOKE AND MIRRORS.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Steven just does not let go of the insulin topic. We as a humanity have failed the most basic of things - nutrition. Dr Unwin has such an emotional and touching personal story and the examples with the sugar cubes are absolutely brilliant. Appreciate the community notes as well. This is absolutely brilliant, worth sharing with everyone you know.
Absolutely amazing guest. This is a podcast I can share with my mom - it's compassionate, grounded and honest. Thank you!
My parents live just round the corner from Dr Unwin and Jen. Incredibly selfless and wonderful people, they went on a journey to try and help people and discovered way more than they originally set out to.
