Description

An astrophysicist says the universe doesn't pull things down — it accelerates upward toward them. And that's one of the tamer claims in this conversation. Dr. Hakeem Oluseyi joins Brian to dismantle assumptions most physicists won't touch in public. Dr. Hakeem Oluseyi is a NASA researcher, Nova host, and author of Why Do We Exist, a unified framework spanning quantum fields to cosmology — and making a case for why imagination may be the universe's endgame. We cover: -why falling is the wrong way to think about gravity -what Hakeem discovered about heat flow while washing dishes that took decades to confirm -why humans sit at the exact logarithmic center of the universe, the calculation that puts 100,000 multicellular-life candidates in the Milky Way -why we'll likely never find any of them, and the one thing most people confuse for knowledge that Hakeem says is the most dangerous deception in society today. The universe makes life inevitable. It does not make multicellular life inevitable. A Stanford PhD and NASA scientist just told me the universe has one job — wipe out everything. Stars, planets, life, you. He gave me a number for how long we have. 📬 Full transcript + Monday M.A.G.I.C. Message → briankeating.com/yt The 3 moments I’d rewatch: ▸ [03:10] — Apples don’t fall. The Earth accelerates up. ▸ [06:00] — Heat flows cold to hot. He discovered it washing dishes. ▸ [40:35] — The universe’s mission: destroy all matter. Question for you: Hakeem says the universe will wipe out all stars, planets, and life — leaving only black holes. Does that change how you think about what matters in your own life?

We think we know everything, but I'm certain I know nothing....

Wow..GOOD stuff.. About Hakeems point of "believing something is true" and "knowing something is true" particularly caught my attention.. From a philosophical perspective one could argue that in actuality no one can know with CERTAINTY that anything represents absolute unquestionable truth, yes? I dont BELIEVE it is the case, BUT as an example, it isnt impossible that we inhabit a simulated reality, that is fooling us, OR our theories (although very utilitarian) may in some manner be CLOSE but incorrect assumptions..Just pointing it out, and of course a very humble opinion only..

According to Penrose, a universe without conscious beings in it doesn’t even qualify as a universe. I think he’s right.

There is a novel "The Zen Gun" by Barrington Bayley had the ultimate weapon which turned the charge of electrons or something like that to positive such that it could destroy stars. It was the ultimate weapon in the Universe since it could destroy a Sun in a solar system. Becoming positive charged the protons could not hold together.
