Description

The Toyota bZ4X hasn’t exactly been well loved since it went on sale in 2022. But for the 2026 model year, the electric SUV — now called the Toyota bZ — gets a slew of updates that the brand hopes will make it more competitive, the most important being a big increase in estimated range. But does the 2026 Toyota bZ live up to its promises? In this video, Edmunds’ Brian Wong puts a prototype of the updated bZ through the Edmunds EV Range Test to find out. I don’t remember hearing about DC charging speeds and AC charging speeds. 🤔 14:34

The short-lived and underpowered bZ4X has made way for the (somewhat) new bZ. But Toyota still has some work to do to expand its electric offerings to catch up with the Hyundais and Fords of the world. So what kind of EV would you like to see Toyota introduce next? Let us know in the comments below!

I don’t know when the days of reviewing EVs will not just be about autonomy and charging speed. Because a year in my lease, I can’t say enough good things about my BZ4X AWD. I don’t get stuck in any harsh winter situation, driving manners are very predictable and fun, comfort is sublime and I still have to encounter a situation where the limited range or the subpar charging capacity was a painful problem. And I regularly do 800 km trips for work. So with these improvements? You’re going to be fine, no worries. I swear.

Driver assist is a great trainer. Too many people change lanes without an indicator. I think it’s good.
