The auto industry is identical to the major appliance industry. Shareholder dividends being the highest priority. Incompetence. Inadequately designed. Substandard components. Poor quality leadership and management at all levels results in poor technician training and performance. And so on

Great, informative video. After watching it, I went out in my driveway and hugged my 2018 Tundra with a 5.7 V8.

Buying a new full size truck today is not much different then going to a landfill and selecting the piece of trash you want to take home with you, except that you'll pay an insane amount of money for it.

Meanwhile, my 1983 Ford F100 with 4.9L six and AOD automatic transmission continues to run flawlessly 42 years and 300,000 miles since I bought it new. The engine is untouched except for a front crank seal, and the transmission has needed only new gaskets in the valve body and shift linkage seals. 99% of the parts on the truck are original, including the alternator and air conditioner compressor. Even accessories like the cruise control still work like new.

So basically if you buy a new truck you have to choose between which POS you want, knowing that your buying expensive junk. And then of course there is the complimentary price increase to add insult to injury.

GM: Lifter problems in V8s? GM: change the oil type, that's the fix, hoping for the warranty to expire.
