ICE is arresting people in churches. A man in my own town in Saco, Maine, was arrested at a local church that friends of mine attend. This man came through a legal port of entry several years ago seeking asylum. He’s stuck in the backlog of the asylum process. In the meantime, he’s been working, living in his home, raising a family, involved in our community, and contributing to the economy. He was about to visit his wife the hospital and newborn in the NICU. At the last minute, he was prevented from boarding a plane to Angola where certain death awaited him, thanks to his attorney obtaining a judge’s order. But, it’s not ok for citizen observers and journalists to be in a church?
