Description

In this Huberman Lab Essentials episode, I explain how memories are formed and how key neurochemicals, such as adrenaline, can be leveraged to enhance memory formation. I also share science-based protocols to enhance learning, strengthen memory recall and reduce the number of repetitions needed to retain new information. In addition, I discuss how exercise supports cognitive function and memory and explore unique memory phenomena such as déjà vu. I can speak to the idea of “repetition” and exercise … after a large brain hemorrhage in my parietal and temporal lobes @ the age of 22 (right side brain) I literally had no short term memory. Extremely exhausting and miserable feeling… just keep trying and using your mind to change your brain. 7 years out and substantially better. God bless ya’ll

Thank you for the tools. Let me make kind of a cheat sheet: - repetition - emotions with release adrenaline, epinephrine, dopamine etc - caffeine or other stimulants - better take stimulants late in the learning not before - naps after learning in 1 or 2 hours - chronic stress is detrimental to learning - exercises especially cardiovascular - mental snapshot or take a photo a camera with a reason - Déjà vu - brief daily meditation of 13 minutes
