The scariest part of these stories is all the people relying on some form of AI to cope with life.
Story 2: When the caller said that OP CANNOT disconnect the call nor get his cop friend for a three way call just to check the legitimacy, that's already a massive red flag.
I asked Gemini, I asked chat gpt.... No wonder you got scammed. When you get flooded by tons of subscriptions, panic, they are trying to hide a very important email like a password change or something like that in a flood of non important ones.
The elderly woman sending all her money to scammers needs to be declared mentally incompetent and have her finances given to someone else.
Gods, if I ever get that bad as an elder where I think I'm dating a celebrity or popular online personality, I hope my children/grandchildren take away my internet privileges. Or childproof whatever technology I have. And I hope I never get that bad.
The romance scams are perhaps the cruellest of all. They target vulnerable people & exploit their lonliness.
"Here is your access code 000000. DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE" ...shares it with the person on the phone... WHY?! Why do people read that and then STILL give the number over!?
This reddit category makes me love scam baiters like Kitboga and Scammer Payback even more.
